A Sure Sign Summer Has Arrived!

A few images I’ve taken over the last couple days! Summer is upon us. Cannot wait for the rat race of school, sports and year-end activities to be over so we can settle into a fun, relaxing summer!

Sam {High School Senior}

I met up with Sam and her family on Saturday evening in Gilbert Plains for some fun, graduation photos. We had to work around the wind, but for the most part it was a beautiful night with a gorgeous setting. Who knew there were lighthouses in Manitoba? We were so grateful to get permission to shoot at this location, it was absolutely perfect. We grabbed a few family pictures as well and a couple of Dylan and Sam too. Congratulations on your upcoming Graduation Sam. I adored your dress and thought you looked absolutely beautiful. Here are just a few of my favourites from Saturday night! All the best to you in your future endeavours….

Relay for Life

The Relay for Life was held in Dauphin, Manitoba on Friday, June 7, 2013 in support of the Canadian Cancer Foundation. The Relay goes from 5:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Our team was called Mervin’s Monsters, in memory of our Uncle Mervin. We have also lost many family members and good friends to cancer so we were more than honoured to participate in this event. We raised approximately $3400 and I am very proud of that accomplishment. We set a goal of $1000 and tripled it. We are all from one family so we knew fundraising might be hard because we’re all hitting up the same people for donations. But to be truthful, we didn’t even have to ask, our friends and family stepped up to the plate with their generosity and we raised a lot of money for this great cause.

This whole experience was life changing, from watching the survivors take the first lap, to the lighting of luminaries in memory of those who fought cancer to the fight back ceremony at 5:00 a.m. It was an evening filled with hope and good will to others. I am so proud of my nephews and my kids for being so respectful during the event and for walking with all their hearts in memory of our loved ones. You couldn’t make me prouder. I have watched you all play hockey, baseball and soccer, but by far Friday night was the moment I was most proud of all of you.

Here are some of my pictures I took on Friday night (yes, way too many…..but it just seemed that everywhere I looked there was something worthy of a picture).

Thank you to the organizers of this event. Nights like this do not happen without dedicated volunteers believing in the cause.

Trinidee {High School Senior} Part I

Meet Trinidee! I met this beautiful high school senior and her Mom tonight for a Grad/Senior session. You will only see Part 1 of our session tonight as I am saving the “grad dress” pictures for after her high school graduation. We had so much fun tromping around an old yard site tonight, and unfortunately, we had to tolerate the wood ticks, but Dawn and Trinidee didn’t let that bother them at all. I was likely more freaked out by the wood ticks than they were. It was a beautiful night….and the session went great! Thanks so much for trusting me with these special memories. Best of luck to you on your graduation and on your remaining few days of high school. Stay tuned for the reveal of “the dress” after June 22nd!

Kristyn & Chad {Engaged}

I had the pleasure of meeting Chad, Kristyn and their adorable girls this week in Gladstone. Kristyn suggested we take their engagement photos at her parent’s farm and I was blown away by all the beautiful backdrops that were there. It truly was a photographer’s dream to shoot at.

Thank you guys for trusting me with these special photos. Looking so forward to your October wedding. Happy Wedding Planning!

Caleigh & Chad {I Do}

Meet Caleigh & Chad! This lovely couple was married on Saturday in the beautiful town of Treherne, Manitoba. I met them last Summer when we took their engagement photos at the Manitoba Agricultural Museum. We chatted about their wedding at that time and the vision that they both had for their big day. As I walked into their beautifully decorated hall in Holland, Manitoba I saw that their vision had become a reality. Everything simply sparkled {Caleigh’s favourite colour}…from her gorgeous dress to the beautiful table settings and their amazing cake…..it just sparkled.

Leading up to their wedding day it poured rain for days, but Mother Nature cooperated with us on Saturday with a beautiful, sunny day. Yes we had to dodge mud puddles and the wind wreaked havoc a couple times, but all in all it was a gorgeous day.

It was so great to meet your family and friends Caleigh & Chad. I felt like I was at “home”. Congratulations again on your marriage. I wish you nothing but love and laughter and happily ever after.

Notes

In my home I try to teach my kids the value of thoughtfulness. I left this note on Dylan’s mirror the other day.

And later this week, I found this note from Jack on my mirror.  They’re learning.

It was my privilege to capture some memories for them. Here are some of my favourites from their wedding day. Thank you Hannah & Matt for trusting me with one of the most important days of your lives. I hope you have an amazing honeymoon in Hawaii and I wish you nothing but love and laughter ~ and happily ever after.

Matt & Naomi {Engaged}

Meet Matt & Naomi. I had the pleasure of meeting this great couple this evening for engagement photos. Naomi and Matt wanted pictures done around their farm and home so I traveled out to Sifton, Manitoba to meet up with them. We went to this great old swinging bridge {Matt was a tad braver than Naomi and I}, then onto their farm where we included their beautiful daughter in a few shots and then ended the session at the pasture where Matt keeps his cattle. I had so much fun touring around the backroads and capturing some lovely images of this fun couple. Looking very forward to their wedding in September. Thanks Matt & Naomi ~ so great to finally meet you. Here are a few of my favourites from tonight.
