My sister and her beautiful family came and spent the weekend with us, and of course, I insisted they come outside to my little rink and let me take a few pictures. Two out of three of their boys play hockey, and in no time at all, three out of three will be playing. It was a bit chilly so we quickly fired off a few shots and ran back into the house for hot chocolate. Here are a few of my favourites. It’s always quite amazing what you can capture in about twelve minutes.
Meet the Funk’s! I met up with them on a frozen pond in Portage la Prairie and captured some fun family images. They are a busy bunch, with three out of four boys involved in hockey, as well as Kelly coaching and Nancy managing. They really do live in a rink most of the winter, and I really don’t think they’d want it any other way. We figured this would be the perfect place to capture their family in the winter, and I’m so glad we did. I loved how all of these images turned out. Their youngest son Quincy was a trooper and managed to stay out on the pond for over an hour. He really deserved the Happy Meal he got at the end as a reward (aka bribe)!
Thanks Funky Bunch! Here are some of my favourites of yesterday morning’s session.
I met up with this wonderful couple and their two pups today and we couldn’t have asked for a dreamier day. Thanks T & J for trusting me with these special memories. Here are some sneak peeks from today’s magical session.
I have always been fascinated with any type of photography that involves water, whether it be poolside or on the beach. My favourite shots of my kids always seem to be the ones of them on a beach, or in the water. I have always wanted to try underwater photography so I splurged and purchased an Olympus underwater camera. My youngest and I headed into our friend’s pool and experimented with it and I have to say I was so pleased with how these turned out. There is something so peaceful about these images, I can’t wait to capture more. Thanks Scuba Steve for letting me practice on you!
I had no intention of taking a pile of photos at the beach today. I worked at my husband’s office this morning and received some texts from my kids asking to go to the beach. I quickly finished up my work and was home by 3 p.m. and enroute to one of our favourite places in Manitoba. We arrived twenty minutes later and the kids hit the water. Other than getting out to eat, they were literally in the lake for almost five hours.
I threw my camera in my purse as I was walking out the door thinking I might regret not having it there. I am so glad I took it as the light was absolutely perfect and the sky was reflecting off the water making the water look so blue. I wandered into the water, camera perched on my head and just started shooting. I didn’t ask them to look, to smile….anything. I just captured them as they were and these are some of my favourite beach pictures I’ve ever taken (ummmm, I’ve taken lots). My kids are getting to an age where they absolutely do NOT want to pose for pictures, but they don’t seem to mind if I “paparazzi” in the corner as long as I don’t get in their way. I’ll pretty much do whatever it takes to get a few pictures of them, as time is flying by far too fast.
I met up with Ethan and his family Saturday morning. When we met, it was literally pouring. We decided to wait it out for a few minutes and see if it would pass. It did stop, but within fifteen minutes the thunder started to roll and the lightning started to strike so we called it and ended the session. Luckily we sensed there was going to be more rain and we moved pretty quickly. It’s amazing what you can capture in about twenty minutes. Here is a sneak peek of some of the many images we captured at their property. Congratulations on your graduation Ethan ~ I hope your day was great.
Aryssa has this big, loving family and it was truly my pleasure to capture her with them on her Prom day. Her dress was to die-for and she looked absolutely stunning in it. Congratulations again on your graduation Aryssa! Thanks for trusting me with all these precious memories. Here’s part 2 of Aryssa’s High School Senior session.
I met up with Isabelle and her family on her Prom day for some pictures of her in her Prom dress and with her family. She looked absolutely stunning and I loved that all of these pictures were captured in the yard she grew up in. Congratulations again Isabelle! I know you’ll do great things with your future!
I spent a lovely summer evening with these two beautiful girls last week. They’ve been best friends for over 11 years and they practically finish each other’s sentences. It was so fun to capture their friendship. Congrats girls on all you’ve accomplished. I know the future is leading you in different directions but I have a feeling your friendship will be lifelong, no matter which paths you take.

Meet Aryssa ~ Class of 2015. I have known Aryssa for years and she has always been one of those friendly, sweet girls that really had no idea how beautiful she truly is. I had so much fun photographing her and capturing her sweet personality. We took these photos in the area where she grew up, just a few miles from her home. It’s hard to believe she will be venturing off to university in the fall, but I know she’ll do great things. Congratulations on your graduation Aryssa ~ all the best to you in your future. Dream big!
