Well Happy New Year Everyone~! Another whirlwind year is behind us, full of memories and busy times. As it always does, the holidays flew by, but as always ~ they were wonderful. We traveled to our cabin at Asessippi to be close to family and had a great time celebrating Christmas and New Year’s Eve with those who mean the most to me. It has been a cold, cold December so we didn’t have a great opportunity to get in much downhill skiing but we tried (froze) and then tried again (froze again). The kids still managed to play their favourite sport (hockey) with their cousins and each other. I had to laugh, we went away for ten days to get a break from the rink and hockey and we ended up still watching it daily whether it was floor hockey at the cabin, pond hockey at my brother’s or even renting the Grandview Rink (courtesy of my Dad). You really can’t escape that sport in Canada can you!?
I always feel sad this time of year. I call it “post holiday blues”. My absolute favourite time of the year is the Christmas Season. I start looking forward to it and preparing for it in November. It is such a busy time of year with Christmas Concerts, hockey games, getting together with family and friends and it always seems to fly by at warp speed. I guess the old saying is true “time flies when you’re having fun”.
This Christmas was truly full of some wonderful memories. My brother’s family was home from Ottawa. I was able to spend several days with my Grandpa as well as my Aunt from Vancouver. My parent’s had all four of their kids “home” for Christmas with their families. Our best friend’s came up to our cabin to ski for a weekend. As fast as it flew by, in my mind, it was one of our best Christmases yet.
Here is a small glimpse into some of the many memories we made over the past ten days. I hope your Christmas & New Year’s were as fun, and as memorable. And I hope you captured some of those memories on film!
